Remove heel and toe shift levers. Reinstall one lever in a vertical position to assist in finding neutral. Drill a ¼" hole through the shift lever ½" to 5/8" back from the shift peg hole. Remove shift peg, turn shift lever over so dog leg goes inwards, reinstall shift lever and peg. Use 1 ½" x ¼" bolt, washers and Nyloc nut to attach shift lever to actuator rod. Ream the clevis with a ¼" drill. On rubber mount models, leave 1/8" between shift lever and clevis. This connection must be able to swivel to follow the arc of the shift lever. Keep all connections as close to a 90 degree angle as possible. Run the wire up the frame down tube and run together with the switch wire under the dashboard to the battery area.
This basic idea works well on most open V-Twins, Metric or Harley.
The distance from the center of the splined shaft that the shift lever is on to the drilled hole is approximately 5 5/8". Check and see where your shift lever moves 1" both up and down. It will vary with each motorcycle.
